Clandestine is the second book in the Mercy Series by Cynthia A. Morgan, a post-apocalyptic fantasy romance that will have you glued to your seat until the end. Set in the 25th century, Pestilence, War, and Famine have ravaged Earth and now it is Death’s turn to wreak havoc. Tzadkiel, the Archangel of Mercy, has finally found a merciful human: Lourdes. However, the Archangel’s work is not done yet. The journey to safety and salvation is not easy. It is fraught with perils and a dangerous enemy who wants Lourdes for himself. It is up to Tzadkiel to keep her safe, out of the clutches of the man who wants her, and to make sure to win the race before Death claims everything they love. Is it possible?

This fantasy/ adventure series is not for the faint of heart, especially those who cannot handle suspense and unrelenting action. The storyline is incredible. It is paced just right to make sure the reader is lost in the moment and yet not too fast so that the reader gets whiplash. I am forever grateful to the author for giving a guide to pronouncing the character names correctly. I find that it is easier for me to connect with a character when I can say their names right, especially in a fantasy novel. I am very particular about my characters and if the characters are not detailed, I don’t like the novel as well. However, Tzadkiel and Lourdes are well fleshed out and detailed. They each added a lot to the story, their particular journeys are nicely developed and are very enjoyable to read. The duo is a force to be reckoned with! And that ending is everything I could wish for! I can’t wait for the next novel in the series and to see what the author has in store for us.
