Lacy is at the center of Comfort Foods: Texas Hill Country Fiction (Comfort Stories) by Kimberly Fish. She was living an exciting life as an influencer until she got herself in trouble by telling the secrets of another girl. Lacy is then forced to give up her life and return to her hometown of Comfort, Texas and help her sister on the goat farm and the setting up of Lavender Lodge. Lacy begins working with Frank, the owner, publisher, and curmudgeon of the local newspaper, a job she thinks is awful and one where she is often butting heads with Frank. She moves into a little bungalow home owned by Gloria, everyone’s perfect grandma and ex-wife of Frank. Rudy soon enters the picture to add spice and romance to the story. He is the owner of Stella’s, a high-end restaurant in Austin, divorced and sharing custody of his adorable young daughter, Luna. Lacy and Rudy meet and he agrees to be part of the food festival being planned to introduce all that Lavender Lodge has to offer. The two are instantly attracted but life and his ex-wife always manage to get in the way.

Comfort Foods by Kimberly Fish was a fun story with serious undertones. I so enjoyed being there and sharing Lacy’s ups and downs and watching her grow from a spoiled girl to a responsible and strong adult who slowly was learning what she really wanted to do with her life and how to get it. Comfort was a town that would be a great place to live and I wanted to have all the people who lived there as my best friends and neighbors. Comfort Foods had a lot of cooking and even some really good recipes, but more than that, it had friendship, family, and love. Don’t pass up reading Comfort Foods - it is a five-star winner.
