Author Biography

Born in Minnesota, Elizabeth Blake lived in Honolulu from 1973 to 1980 before moving to Arizona where she now lives with her husband. She worked 20 years as a Medical Technologist in hospital laboratories before switching careers to teach high school science. She wrote a dramatic, emotional and inspirational memoir about her years teaching, "No Child Left Behind? The True Story of a Teacher's Quest" which placed third in the memoir category of the 2009 national book contest "Premier Book Awards." She has also published a memoir of her years working in the medical field entitled "Conquering Challenges: A Working Mother's Story"

Conquering Challenges: A Working Mother's Story by Elizabeth Blake is an uplifting memoir. The book describes the challenges faced by the author as a single parent raising a daughter far away from home, and the struggles she undergoes trying to establish herself in the medical profession. The book speaks to readers on many dimensions which makes it an engaging read. The author captures her moments in life beautifully and shares her personal stories, making them interesting. The book not only showcases the medical profession, but also speaks of challenges, real life moments and her raising a child all alone. It is a story of courage, character, love and integrity.

The book gives readers a peek into what happens in the medical environment. The author's personal stories and experiences make the book a captivating read. I enjoyed the stories from Honolulu. It is a memoir that will be enjoyed by people from all walks of life and will also motivate readers of all age groups to face the challenges in their daily lives in a good way. Apart from the story of a person struggling to establish herself, it is also a story of a young mother trying to cope with a child and her life. It is a wonderful book that will make us look at people in the medical field and appreciate them in a good way. It throws more light on the profession and will make you look at it with a new perspective.

This book helped me appreciate the medical professionals in our world more than I ever have before. The stories fascinate and keep you engaged from beginning to end. Once you start reading, it's hard to put the book down.
