Conviction: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O'Flynn is a thrilling murder mystery. Shannon Taylor is an Ash Park District Attorney with a no-nonsense tough attitude working under her cheating ex-husband. A drug dealer becomes the victim, after beating his tiny baby with his belt. Shannon tries the girlfriend for murder and wins the case. However, Petrosky and Harrison, a couple of police officers don't believe that she is guilty and are trying to find evidence that will prove her innocence. Harrison is a very close friend of Shannon's, and because of their relationship, she listens even though she doesn't agree. Shannon's kitten is found brutally murdered on the back porch, minus its head. The next day the head is placed on her car with a note. Soon after, Shannon's car is busted up and broken into, and the only items taken are the notes from the murder trial. Shannon is now beginning to believe that she may have made a mistake in pursuing the conviction. Now the murderer is after her and her family. As Harrison, Petrosky and Shannon search for the killer, their fellow law enforcement officers become suspects. They are her friends; how are they related to the murder and why would they want Shannon dead?

Conviction: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O'Flynn is an intense and suspenseful murder mystery. It captured me from the first chapter and held me enthralled until the final page. Shannon's character has a very forceful personality tinged with ferocity. Due to the painful events in her life, she exhibits resentment and antagonism. It is a relief when she changes direction in the end and reveals compassion and love, giving evidence of her character's personal growth. She is an outstanding character in a thrilling novel. This book is a phenomenal murder mystery, and I recommend it to those who enjoy a good, suspenseful read. However, it does contain some sexual content and is more appropriate for those who are over the age of eighteen.
