In Coyote Heart by Paula Margulies, Carolyn Weedman is ready for a change. She spent the better part of her life with a disabled husband and now their marriage is troubled with conflicted feelings and resentment. Looking for some distraction, Carolyn came across a Pala Indian professor. The widower made her feel alive once again, made her feel passion, and now she is falling for him. An unexpected love affair was exactly what she needed to take her mind off things and think about herself for once.

Plus, her husband’s past did not help her feelings towards him. But that does not mean she does not love him. Her husband was the first love of her life and it is very hard for her to give it up. Is she that selfish to give up on a man who gave his life to her and loved her unconditionally? Or will she choose a man who recently came into her life and made her feel alive once again? In this story of sacrifice, love and reconciling with the past, Carolyn will have to make a decision that might make or break her heart.

Paula Margulies did a wonderful job with Coyote Heart. She actually gave us an insight into the conflict that rages inside a woman when she is at a crossroads in her marriage. Carolyn is not portrayed as a slut or a promiscuous scarlet woman, but she is portrayed as a human being who is prone to mistakes and willing to redeem her actions. I really appreciated that and truly loved Paula for making a wonderful effort. A really good story line.
