James was really excited. It was Saturday morning and he was going on his first fishing trip with his dad. James tried to help as his father packed the fishing gear and made sandwiches for their lunch. After putting the fishing gear inside the truck, Daddy asked James to wait by the truck as he went inside to get a few more things. James noticed a box that Daddy called the tackle box and when he opened it, he saw a lot of brown, slimy worms. He wondered how they got there and dumped them on the ground. Once they arrived at the lake, they separated the boat from the truck and placed it in the water. Daddy put a life jacket on James and took the tackle box and the fishing poles. As they reached the middle of the lake, Daddy opened the tackle box but it was empty. James told Daddy how he threw the worms out and Daddy explained to him these were used to attract the fish. Would they be able to find fish bait and continue with their fishing adventure?

Daddy's Fishing Buddy by Melondy Roberson and James Ural is a delightful story that conveys a beautiful message to young readers. Ambadi Kumar's illustrations are bright and colorful and they take readers right into the middle of the lake to experience the fishing adventure with James and his dad. It is a good story that gives readers information about fishing, apart from the message of learning from one's mistakes and finding solutions to problems. It is a good story for parents and tutors to read out loud to youngsters and make them get excited about fishing.
