Author Biography

Zeecé Lugo was born in Puerto Rico, grew up in Brooklyn, and lived in many places. She spent seven years in the U.S. Air force, taught for many years in Miami, and even spent a year working for the IRS.

Her early love was reading. The worlds of Pern, Middle-earth, St. Mary Mead, and Shrewsbury Abbey had an incredible influence and hold on her imagination.
She wrote her first novel, Daniel’s Fork, in two months, spending long hours at her task. During that time, she ensconced herself in her bedroom with her computer, barely coming out to grab a cup of coffee or a snack. One day, her nearest neighbor came desperately knocking at her bedroom window, afraid that Zeecé might be dead; no one had seen her for days!

Daniel’s Fork was meant to be the first book in a romantic trilogy. Little did Zeecé know that stories have a way of going where they want to go. Daniel’s Fork turned out to be a journey to the future past! It is a sexy mystery set in the future, giving birth to a fictional universe: the Daniel’s Fork universe.

Daniel’s Fork is a dystopian-style novel by Zeecé Lugo. The world as we know it has reverted back to a simpler time, one of lords and villages. In the settlement of Daniel’s Fork, Lord Strongheart has passed away, leaving an opening for a new lord. The council has chosen Commander William Evers for this lofty position. However, he finds some resistance to his position in the form of Setiyah, the Healer. More troubling than this conflict are the mysterious deaths of young men seeking the hand of Susanna, the daughter of the owner of Daniel’s Pub. Rumors have circulated for many years as to the perpetrator of these dastardly crimes, but no man has been held responsible. Can Commander Evers find the offender, or will he lose his own life in the process?

Miss Lugo paints an interesting picture of life after the end of the technological era. I liked the descriptions of the world and, at times, almost believed I was reading an historical novel. Setiyah was one of my favorite characters and I hope the love-hate relationship between her and Commander Evers will be explored in later books. I had some difficulty following the characters at times though, having to look back to follow the dialogue. I enjoyed the love scenes and found them a nice break from the narrative, but no less important. I did find some of the dialogue extensive and unnecessary, as if what the character was trying to convey could have been said in fewer words. I also felt the ending rather abrupt. Overall, though, it is a decent story and I was glad to read at the end there will be more to the story of Daniel’s Fork.

Ms. Lugo clearly knows how to masterfully use words to create an entire world coupled with realistic characters. Vivid prose weaves together a tale of intrigue, and throughout the entire story I found myself impressed with her articulate description as I envisioned each detail, letting her creation saturate my mind’s eye. The historical essence of the novel captivates the reader as Ms. Lugo writes with authenticity, and her old-fashioned dialogue demonstrates a beautiful style that feels almost musical. Packed with well-planned momentum and pacing that keeps readers engaged, the overall plot kept me turning pages. It’s got a bit of everything—passion, sensuality, culture, intrigue, and memorable characters… overall, a story well told, and a delightful precursor to her next novel.

Daniel's Fork certainly would not normally fall onto my TBR list, but I happened upon the prequel, and was hooked. Call it a guilty pleasure if you will, but I very much enjoy the combination of action, suspense, with a bit of sexy thrown in for good measure. I find the characters well developed and with unique voices. Pacing of the story is perfect, the creation of the world balanced just right with the action that drives the story and keeps the reader turning pages long past their bedtime. Not for the younger crowd, or those averse to strong sexual content, but recommended to those who welcome a bit of naughtiness to break up the adventures and mysteries occurring within Daniel's Fork.

Brilliant writing, fabulous storyline, engaging characters - and it's a series!! Hours of fantastic reading await you (and me)!

Ms. Lugo transports us to a time in the future where current technology, weaponry, material goods, government, and war have vanished and the people live a simplistic life. Farming, bartering, cooperation, and a simplified penal system are in place. Life is about the basics of human survival.

Part of what is utterly compelling about this story is the concept that people reject all the indulgences of current day life in order to be free from all the negative that comes with it. The main characters are well crafted, multi-dimensional people that grab your attention and keep it - whether it be while solving a mystery that has plagued Daniel's Fork for years, or the evolution of human relationships and the acceptability that love is love in all its permutations.

That all the characters are witty, intelligent, emotional beings leaves me thankful that Ms. Lugo has written two other books in the series, so we can continue to be transported and mesmerized.

A definite must read!

Lord Victor is dead. Life and time moves on. The new leader of Daniel's Fork, Lord Will, heralds changes which will rock the idyllic community.

Daniel's Fork is as beautiful as the author's prose.

“Tonight, it was a different creature I met. She was all color and life. She was bold in her address, seductive, and smoldering. Her eyes were lined in very black Kohl and shaded in gold powder, very exotic. Her lips were painted dark red and moist, and she used them enticingly. Her lovely hair fell smooth and alive down to the lovely curve above her (behind). She wore lovely jewels worthy of a queen. And that dress! It hugged her small waist and left her shoulders and cleavage bare. She was lovely indeed.”

I loved Flora and Becca. The two old ladies, veterans of the Warriors' Mess Hall, were lovely and outspoken.

Daniel's Fork, by Zeecé Lugo, is a beautifully written work. The story and characters are interesting and engaging. The dialogue is sometimes surprising and always intriguing. Ms. Lugo offers some surprises which will keep the reader thinking about the characters long after closing the book.

Having read and reviewed “Edge of the World,” I couldn’t wait to get to “Daniel’s Fork” on my ‘to be read’ list. When it finally came up…wow!

Ms. Lugo is an excellent wordsmith and storyteller. Her stories are effortless in the reading, and thoroughly engrossing as her writing allows for less than 10% ‘telling’. She shows her scenes in such a way that the reader can’t help but feel a part of it…right smack in the middle of the action. Her characters come alive and are easily relatable to everyone.

“Daniel’s Fork” is an adventure that includes a murder mystery, a unique future world a romance, and some of the best-written erotica I’ve ever read. It’s not ‘in your face’ sex. Instead, she handles these scenes with an adroit skill that always remains far above the line that separates exquisite erotica from baseless, gratuitous sex at any price. This is a series that has captivated my attention and I will be there for the entire series. I’d recommend you do so, as well.

Daniel's Fork is set in a future that has taken a step back to the days of lords and ladies. Someone is committing murders and the suspense of that drove me to stay up at night turning the pages. I loved the humor that Lugo has infused into the story, and the characters are very well developed. There are some rather steamy scenes, so I would not recommend this book for younger readers. Loved the healer and her strong mindedness.

I rated this book 5 stars. Great job Zeece Lugo.
I didn't know what to expect from this book, but I really loved it. The characters were fun and I fell in love with them all and I really enjoyed the story line. A tale full of twists and turns and yet even more surprises.
If you like it hot with a story that will draw you in, then this book you will enjoy.

Wow! Perfectly painted picture of future after the fall of the technology world. A very enjoyable read from the banter to unexpected passion of friendships. I could not put the book down and can't wait to read the next one.

Complex characters blend a murder mystery into a beautifully crafted dystopian sci-fi that retains a certain classic romance style as the clocks have been turned backwards and people live a simpler lifestyle than our modern day; there is nothing to dislike about Daniel’s Fork. It is emotional and at times racy but the words flow so wonderfully it is not a cheap erotica, more like of Bronte tried to write while stuck in Philip K Dick’s head. An interesting prose, a nice start to something deeper and all in a great read.

I loved this book! I made the mistake of reading it while hooked up to a heart rate monitor, which caused a bit of medical chaos during a rather steamy scene, but the book was very hard to put down.

Zeece Lugo starts out her book with dramatic flair. A young girl is about to meet her lover at their hide-out. When he does not show up, she “immediately” knows that he is dead – “like the others.” Readers do not know who the girl is, who “the others killed” are and why they got killed. Author Zeece Lugo proves that she is a master of suspense; the short chapter grabs the reader’s attention.

A few years later the village of Daniel's Fork and surrounding province gets a new Lord. Lord Tanis, who rules like a king over all provinces has appointed the savvy warrior “…William the Gorgeous, respectfully addressed by his men as Commander Evers, and now to be addressed by all as Lord Evers…” Though all of Daniel's Fork’s females are excited to meet the new Lord, Setiyah the Healer is not. She thinks William is too young, too inexperienced, and “too beautiful”.

However, there is not much time to delve into this, on his second evening in town William the Gorgeous takes a closer look at Susanna, the only daughter of the main pub’s owner. The reader gets to find out that she is the girl from the opening chapter. Every man she loves gets killed in the most hideous way.

The story is developed very nicely, the characters have depth. I really liked Zeece Lugo’s descriptions of how Setiyah and William learn to cooperate and see the best in each other. It makes the story and goes beyond the usual action stuff.

The story also includes a few steamy sex scenes, which entertain in between the drama.

It’s a very entertaining book, the ending lets me suspect that more books are to come.

A gripping, sexy read!
I read this novel straight off the back of beta reading Zeecé's forthcoming prequel to it, Strongheart's Woman. It instantly drew me back in to the amazing post apocalyptic world she has created. The world has been devastated by a pandemic. Technology is gone, and the people have reverted to a simpler existence. Human nature, however, has not changed, and evil lurks in even the most idyllic places.
Daniel’s Fork is such a place. A haven of safety in the dangerous future wilderness, it's people work hard to prosper and for the most part succeed.
Enter Will Evers, the new Lord installed by the fledgling government. Right away he is plunged into a seven year mystery, as a murderer, infatuated with a local girl, seems to kill with impunity.
The story is very well written, the characters extremely likeable and I genuinely grew to care for them. The mystery will have you doubting everyone by the end, however. It's really quite clever. I thought it was one person all along, but Ms Lugo changed my mind a few times before the final reveal.
I will touch on the sex scenes. They are probably some of the best erotica I've ever read. Although tastefully done they definitely make an impact.
All in all, this was a hugely enjoyable read which I can't recommend highly enough.

Daniel's Fork is a post-apocalyptic murder mystery with romance overtones - a skillful genre mash that definitely keeps you reading! Deep and interesting characters populate the town of Daniel's Fork, and its culture and the attitudes of the people who live there are absolutely fascinating. The mystery itself is extremely well done. If you want a not-so-classic 'who done it' with a few steamy scenes and some great character building, I highly recommend this book!

A delight to read. The narrative and dialogued flowed beautifully. Even though the story is set in the future I think the wording comes across as that of Medieval times but it works! There is humour in the book and I found myself giggling out loud in some parts.
The story, overall has been well planned and thought out. There are sex scenes but nothing offensive and the author treats them well.I'm not sure though about all the scenes beng relevant to the plot.
Zeece Lugo does not short change the reader when it comes to description and character building. You are left with some questions, so I will be following on with Zeece Lugo's books

I downloaded Daniel's Fork as a free book from Amazon. A super awesome read, unfortunately the synopsis doesn't do the storyline enough justice! Circumstances have thrown the world back to the medieval structure of fiefdoms. With the death of their lord, a village is forced to accept and adapt to an outsider, chosen to oversee Daniel's Fork. I loved the characters and plot, revolving around the investigation of a series of murders spanning years. As a word of caution there are MM scenes that may be offensive to some readers, especially as the synopsis gives no warning of MM content, but this mystery is the focus of the story-- and while I did guess "who done it" I still wasn't positive until the ending. A great story!
