Dark Tales from Dreamdale: Nightmares Are Everywhere Here! is a teen horror fantasy novel written by Jeremy Robertson. Arden Wonder is a thirteen-year-old boy blessed with a gifted soul. Living in the small town of Dreamdale, Arden's parents raised him as the Chosen One destined to put monsters from the Nether Nod to sleep. As his parents prepare him and his twin brother, Tantom, to be sent to the Academy to train as Monster Slayers, Arden finds himself hesitant to take on the responsibility. Meanwhile, the Vampire King of the Nether Nod, Count Comatose, extends his everlasting life by feeding on souls taken from Dreamdale. He kidnaps Arden and his friends and blackmails Arden into retrieving the Monster Medallion and Poltergiest Pendant to power up and unleash the nightmare apocalypse upon reality. Will Arden be able to stop him?
Fans of horror fantasy books such as Goosebumps will find much to enjoy in Dark Tales from Dreamdale. The plot moves at a fast pace, and the chapters feel like episodes of a TV series. Most of the characters are used as pawns to move the story forward, although a few like Arden and Count Comatose are well fleshed out. Author Jeremy Robertson ends the book on a cliffhanger, leaving the door open for the story to continue in future sequels. If you want to delve into a dark, vivid, and visceral world filled with monsters like soul-sucking vampires, gremlins, and gargoyles, Dark Tales from Dreamdale: Nightmares Are Everywhere Here! is the book for you.
