Darkness Saga: Filii Noctis by Benjamin Richard Long is a tale that digs deep into Nordic symbolism and brings you the supernatural story of Ragnarok. It follows the cycle of events from life, to sustenance, to death, and teaches us (as all good stories do) that while everything must have a beginning so must it have an end, everything will eventually die. Ragnarock - for those who knows the term - is essentially the world coming undone, being torn limb from limb and leaving behind an uninhabitable wasteland. What would people do to survive in that kind of land? What would you do to survive if you were pitted against someone else to live?

I think to fully take in everything that this book offers I would have to read it several times. That said, Benjamin Richard Long has created a Nordic masterpiece. The story is so full of depth from the characters and the underlying plot that you almost do not know where to turn next mentally as you read. I love a book that challenges me to think. I did personally remember a lot of the core themes of the story from the sagas and eddas but I never would have thought to blend them together like Mr. Long did. I would highly recommend that anyone who enjoys Nordic themes and has an interest in mythology should take a look at this book. It is well worth the read. I know I am going to go back and read this one a couple more times.
