Author Biography

L. P. Donnelli is a children's author. He was published at the age of 12 for a national angling magazine and later won short story awards at school and University, and has published two children's books: --Back-on-Track-- and Dead Diary.

He has been in the top 15 Best Sellers List on Amazon, both in the US and the UK, for Humorous Children's Literature and has been in the top 1% of the Amazon Bestsellers ranking for all Kindle books availble on Amazon.com.

He lives with his super partner, his lovely Chinese/German/Mexican dog, two geckos (one extremely squeaky), and his Russian wandering tortoise. He leads a boring double life of legal and financial work when he unfortunately cannot write. He drinks far too much coconut water and loves writing different types of books, and is currently working on a fantasy and YA book along with other children's stories

Dead Diary by L.P. Donnelli revolves around young Mathilde who has the usual growing up problems of every girl. She tries to fit in at school and she is also a soul helper. She finds it difficult to help all the ghosts find their peace. She realizes helping dead people is demanding; she is also a ghost helper after 6 pm most days and from 11 am during weekends. She loves writing and decides to start writing a diary during the new school year to keep her sane. And from that day her diary entries begin. From these diary entries, readers get to know more about Mathilde, her life, and the lessons she learns.

I found the story interesting as well as intriguing. The diary entry format is engaging and readers connect with the character of Mathilde very well. All the main characters are introduced by Mathilde in her diary and portrayed well, and they complement the plot nicely. They are also real, adorable, and relatable. Children will find Mathilde fascinating as she is someone who has strange interactions with ghosts. The story also shows the growing up pangs of a young girl. The diary format makes the narration simple and crisp and gives it a good pace without being boring. The story is cute and children will love it. It's a good bedtime story book and also introduces children to the concept of keeping a diary. The book can be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. A great book for children. I love the cover design.
