Deadline: Phantom Force Tactical, Volume 1 is a romantic novel of suspense written by Jessica James. Caitlin Sparks often spent her evening hours at her job, doing research on her computer. Anything was better than being sleepless and feeling alone at home. This evening was a bit different, however; it was cold, rainy and the heavy fog made seeing a challenge. She momentarily wondered if going into the office was such a good idea after all, when her attention was grabbed by the flashing of police car lights as first one, then another and another cruiser passed by her and disappeared down a narrow road. She couldn't help but follow them down the winding gravel road until she noticed the parked emergency vehicles surrounding a deluxe retreat in the woods. Her investigative reporter's curiosity had her in thrall as her car approached the police officer who halted her progress. Fortunately, Officer Olson and she were old friends, and he let her proceed to the scene of the crime. He did warn her that Mad Dog Madison was the investigating officer, and Mad Dog definitely didn't care for reporters.

Jessica James' romantic novel of suspense, Deadline: Phantom Force Tactical, Volume 1 opens with a double homicide that Caitlin believes is linked to the State Department, and it just keeps on getting more intriguing as the investigative reporter follows leads that seem to piece together that homicide with the death of her fiance, Vince. He had supposedly committed suicide shortly before he was due to testify in the Kessler affair, and she had never accepted that story. James' plot is filled with twists, turns and non-stop action as Blake Madison and Caitlin Sparks form an unlikely alliance and find themselves fleeing for their lives. Madison and Sparks are compelling characters and watching as they pool their skills to try, not only to survive, but to get justice is highly entertaining. Deadline: Phantom Force Tactical, Volume 1 is a fast-paced and exciting read, and it's most highly recommended.
