Diary of a Real Payne - True Story by Annie Tipton is about a 10-year-old girl whose name is Emma Jean Payne. E.J. (as she likes to call herself) lives in Spooner, Wisconsin which she thinks is a very boring town. She has a little brother whom she sometimes calls Space Invader, but whose real name is Isaac, a best friend Macy, and a dog named Bert. E.J. has a very vivid imagination so that at times, when she is daydreaming, she forgets what she is doing and even her surroundings. E.J. likes to imagine herself in different roles and situations. E.J. thinks she has been given a very important role in her school’s Christmas Pageant when she is cast as the angel from the Nativity Story. But what E.J. does not know is the most important role she will be starring in happens after the Christmas Pageant!

Diary of a Real Payne - True Story is the first in a series of children's fiction by Annie Tipton. Girls aged 10 to 12 will enjoy reading about the antics of Emma Jean Payne, or E.J. This is a story girls can relate to because they have been in some of the same situations as E.J., a character that will draw you into her world of daydreams where you can be anyone you want to be.
