Dig Deep: The Psycho-Spiritual Handbook of Befriending Your Best Self through the '5x5 Side-by-Side' Guide by Marcus A. Banks-Bey is a powerful self-help guide to digging deep within yourself to find out who you really are, what you want, and where you fit into the world. Banks-Bey lost his brother to suicide, but he used that experience (and his experience as a doctoral student in clinical psychology, mental health worker, and hospital chaplain for the Army) to embark on his own journey and to re-examine everything he thought he knew about beliefs and true identity. The author thoughtfully and skillfully uses a personable style that connects with readers, helping them to uncover connections to several F words: Family, Friends, Faith, Finances, and Fitness. This lays the foundation for the P words: Purpose, Planning, Patience, and Persistent-Perseverance. The five F words and the five P words are the concepts that make up the 5x5 Side by Side Guide.

Discovering purpose and meaning are things most humans search for, and Banks-Bey offers a succinct, direct method of getting you closer to these personal goals. If the term psycho-spiritual is new to you, don't worry, the two words together mean mind and spirit. The plan asks you to take a look inside yourself, asking tough questions, accepting the answers, and making adjustments that this guide suggests. You'll learn about perception versus reality, the nature of conflict and trauma, and so much more. This succinct book contains actionable wisdom that makes sense, and the author clearly knows how to communicate the 5x5 Side by Side Guide. He asks the audience to recognize and remember the most important things in life, and, if you've strayed from them, try to get back to them. The writing and messages are deep and from many disciplines, but not over your head, even when it comes to Quantum Entanglement. The book's "Focus Moments" invite readers to reflect on certain points, and space to make notes is provided. He explains his ideas with simplicity and common sense, which is lacking in many self-help books today. If you're looking for a way to get to know the real you, and make the most of yourself, put Dig Deep by Marcus A. Banks-Bey at the top of your reading list.
