After the attempted murder of her father, a teenage psychic hunts for the person responsible in the paranormal novel Dying Thoughts: Seventh Death by Joey Paul. Tara's father is the legendary rock star Colin Leverton, who is very protective of Tara and her unique talent, her ability to witness the last moments of people's deaths. After spending eleven years caring for Tara after her mother's murder, Colin decides to jump-start his career again with a tour. Tara is looking forward to the weeks of freedom ahead, where she can come and go as she pleases in between her college classes. Sadly her liberty doesn't last long when a car strikes Colin's tour bus, causing a horrible wreck. When Tara arrives at the intensive care unit and picks up his personal belongings, her psychic gift kicks in, and she witnesses the last moments before the crash. However, what she sees conflicts with Jon's testimony. Jon is Colin's agent, present on the bus with Colin during the accident, but he only sustained minor injuries. Jon has been a part of Colin's life since before Tara was born. Why would he lie? Is it shock or something more sinister?

The brilliant young adult novel Dying Thoughts: Seventh Death by Joey Paul is an intense and dramatic work of mystery, crime, and drama laced with paranormal elements. As a fan of the series and the characters, this book was a real nail-biter: I was on the edge of my seat until the very last page. I had to know whether or not Colin survived and who his attacker was. Author Joey Paul does an excellent job of integrating health challenges into her series and how these issues affect family members, friends, and society in a positive way. It is an extraordinary book in a fabulous series, and I can't recommend Dying Thoughts: Seventh Death highly enough to everyone who loves novels that contain suspense, sleuthing, and a hint of the paranormal.
