Author Biography

A life-long resident of the Pacific Northwest, I have spent decades crafting fine art, weaving stories and creating children. My short stories and non-fiction essays have appeared in both regional and national publications.

When I created the draft of my first novel, Echoes Through Distant Glass, I realized that Tomas' and Owen's story couldn't be told in one volume, and so I went on to explore their world in Eclipse Rising...and am now creating the Beyond Cascadia series!

Eclipse Rising is a work of fiction in the epic science fiction, adventure, and political thriller subgenres, and was penned by author S. Kirk Pierzchala. The work is intended for the general adult reading audience and continues the Beyond Cascadia series by picking up Tomas’s story where we left off in Echoes Through Distant Glass. As Tomas continues to manage the fallout from his brother Francisco, deemed a clone and stripped of all his rights, he once again crosses paths with Officer Owen MacIntyre, the American cyborg law enforcer and one of the few souls he can rely on for aid. But MacIntyre has his own demons to put to rest, and the results could spell danger in the swirling political maelstrom that awaits him in the near future in the States. What results is an engrossing cyberpunk thriller tale that is sure to keep readers engrossed in its many interweaving plots.

Author S. Kirk Pierzchala has crafted an immersive, fantastical, and yet eerily familiar work of futuristic fiction with plenty of thrills, spills, and interpersonal drama to offer its readers. One of the features I found particularly impressive about this piece is its commitment to balance in all things, from the detailed worldbuilding of the political structures and personal roles in this vibrant but gritty cyberpunk world, through to the well-paced and carefully arranged emotional arc of each central character as different obstacles present themselves on their path to a brighter, more peaceful tomorrow. One of the things I also really admired in the juxtaposition between Tomas and Owen was that neither is presented as a typical science fiction "hero" but as ordinary people caught up in extraordinary and dangerous circumstances where they are doing what they feel they must. Overall, I would highly recommend Eclipse Rising to fans of epic science fiction that you can lose yourself in for days, readers of the existing series hungry for even more drama and intrigue, and for enthusiasts of tense and believable cyberpunk thrillers everywhere.
