While entering and leaving without a trace, an unknown element is mutilating cattle on two ranches causing the ranchers to question their origin in the chilling science fiction novel, Encounter At Cloud Ranch (Legend of the Clouds) by Robert James Connors. While on a short break from college where he is studying forensic anthropology, Jason Cloud goes home to his father Tom's ranch, the C9. Tom found a mutilated cow and wanted Jason to have a look at the unusual placement of the bones. When Jason discovers an anomalous skull nearby, their lives take an unexpected and bizarre turn. During the night, Jason is awakened when a sphere of light travels across the room and pauses over his dresser. The next morning when he gets out of bed, the skull is missing. Meanwhile, the young owner of the neighboring ranch dies from unknown causes, and one of his hired hands witnesses a massive beast attacking their cattle. Something sinister and otherworldly is stalking the residents of the ranches, threatening their lives, and their stock. What kind of creature is it? Is it indigenous, or is it alien?

Encounter At Cloud Ranch (Legend of the Clouds) by Robert James Connors is a spine-tingling tale that is nightmare-inducing and not quickly forgotten. I adore tales with extraordinary monsters, alien creatures, and technology, and this one had all my favorite aspects of a science fiction thriller. Filled with mystery, suspense, and bloodcurdling encounters, the plot moves at a quick pace, keeping the apprehension and fear alive. The setting is the perfect background for the storyline and is in keeping with myths and legends surrounding the area. It is a fantastic novel that will thrill science fiction fans who love an exciting, action-packed adventure complete with monsters and aliens combating earthlings.

If you are the sort that can't imagine going into a dark place in search of an unknown threat, this one will grab you and keep you on the edge of your seat. An isolated ranch where cell phones are almost useless, far from any help, and surprising midnight visitors set the stage.
What has four legs, four arms,. and can carry half a cow up a cliff? That question tests university student Jason Cloud's rock-climbing and caving skills, and the plot twists will keep you guessing. He'll need the help of a team to respond when he confronts the reality that's been lurking in the mountains for many years.
This is an entertaining book, and will keep you turning pages . There's also a romantic back story and a dangerous human character or two just to complicate things. Fun times at the Cloud Ranch for sure!
