Author Biography

My natural optimistic nature was kindled into a fire that has lasted a lifetime when I met Attorney General Robert Kennedy where I worked in Washington DC. He is famous for a saying that changed my life: Some people see things as they are and ask, “Why?” I see things as they could be and ask, “Why not?”

Over my 45 years of marriage and raising three sons, volunteering in my community, church and schools gave me endless opportunities to use my optimism and calling to ask, “Why not?” and then do the unusual and unexpected.

As our sons introduced me to the Internet in the 90s, I decided to launch my first website in 2004 ~ giving encouragement to a new believer in Jesus Christ with the theme of welcoming them into the family of God. Since then, tens of thousands of people around the world have accessed the site, where they can download a free New Life Birth Certificate. It is also available in Spanish.

In 2008 I expanded this theme by launching my second website using BASIC to mean Brothers and Sisters in Christ. An important part of this site are my Encourage-Mints, featuring two new verses or quotes each month. I find it exciting that people as far away as Beijing China and Europe visit the site.

I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending his love letter to the world. Mother Teresa

When you’re wondering how to find strength for the journey called life, remember God's Word and be encouraged. When you are encouraged, then take that encouraging word and share with someone else who needs a pick-me-up and breathe encouragement into their soul. Remember the time when you needed help and someone poured love into you? Take the time to share that same love, insight, and encouragement into the heart and life of one who needs a boost.

Author Carol Freed in her book: Encourage-Mints: Give a Mint, Refresh a Life helps the reader find ways to encourage others. Maybe we think what we have to offer is small, but encouragement seems to multiply when we offer to give it away. The book encourages the reader to believe that what they have to offer is great and supportive for someone in need. Sometimes we must even give from our need, not when everything is perfect and going well. Author Freed gives encouragement to give away refreshing hope and praise to others around you, and in doing so things within your life will be lifted as well.

While this is a very short book, it is one that gives great ideas on how to be a difference maker. It would be an excellent tool to be used for hospitals, churches, counseling, etc. Everyone needs encouragement, so why not start with someone today and determine to make a difference right where you are planted. Encourage-Mints brings together the positive for a lasting difference.
