In wondering about her German roots, J.J. and her cousin Sophie decide to take a trip to Europe to see what they could find out. The trip started off with flight complications, and then they find the village of Hummersen, a tiny little place sandwiched between mountains of Northeast Germany, to be an adventurous little village. As they continued their travels, they found many living relatives, thus finding what they came for. But these two were not satisfied with their finding. They wanted more adventures, so they extended their travels to Paris and Amsterdam, bringing even more excitement and chaos than they anticipated. And you really need to read the book to find out about their adventures and excitement; it’s just too much to tell here! Jan Frazier will surely have you turning the pages as you read her true accounts of the trip she and Sophie took to Germany and the other exciting places they visited. And they had such a fantastic time of it that these two ladies decide to make the trip again.

Jan Frazier is a master storyteller and knows how to keep her readers' attention. She writes about her adventures with such passion and skill that readers will want to keep reading to see what these girls are up to next. And it was fun hearing about all of the different places. I enjoyed reading about this real-life trip these ladies took. However, though I know there are a lot of people who can afford to take these trips, there are a lot more who can’t, and I am not sure how a personal vacation story like this will fare in the readers' world. Though I did enjoy it, it is not one I would read again, nor would I read another like it. But it is a good book for someone looking for a fun summer non-fiction read.
