Bill and Pat Coleman look forward to Every Thursday, and so do their grandchildren. The Coleman’s set aside Every Thursday as grandchildren day. They drive to their grandchildren’s home, and so begins a day of fun and learning. The Coleman’s are the proud grandparents to five grandchildren (they have now added every other Monday to their schedule for the grandchildren that live farther away.)

Grandchildren make the simplest task fun. Whether it is riding on an elevator or touring a soda pop factory ,everything becomes an adventure. Children see things differently from adults. Children find excitement and awe in a bug or in making cookies. Grandparents are blessed with the opportunity to see things through their eyes.

The dynamics of the relationship of a child and grandparent is very different from the relationship of the child and the parent. Parents have to be responsible for the bills, healthy meals, and bedtimes. Grandparents are “responsible” for love, hugs, and fun. We have been blessed with ten grandchildren. They range in age from fourteen to one. Each has a unique personality and each is a blessing. My heart warms from every minute I spend with them and from every time I hear them call out to me. Hugs are special when they are from grandchildren.

Every Thursday is a devotional book filled with bits of scripture and insights into being a grandparent. The Coleman’s share their personal experiences. This book is one I will cherish. Why not give Every Thursday  to your grandparent?
