Author Biography

Richard I Levine is a native New Yorker who grew up in the shadows of Yankee Stadium. "I fondly remember the days of sneaking into the Ballpark through the bleacher seat entrance to watch Maris and Mantle play, sipping egg cream sodas at the corner candy store and playing (surviving) Bronx style sidewalk games until mom called out from our fourth floor apartment window that dinner was getting cold."
After working in the auto parts business for several years and a one year wanderlust trip that took him coast to coast and back again, this one time volunteer firemen, auxiliary police officer and bartender eventually returned to school to become a chiropractor. He lives in the Pacific Northwest where he continues to write--confessing to a strong desire to dig his toes into the warm white sands of Lanikai while sipping on an ice-cold Pipeline Porter and munching on fresh Mahi Mahi Poke.

Dr. Raymond Silver is newly divorced and his children are all grown up and pursuing their careers. The obvious plan is to move forward and live the rest of his life peacefully. However, his unfulfilled goal to follow his family tradition and serve his country in the military, like his grandfather, father, brother and children, gnaws away at him. Determined to remedy this missing piece of his life, Raymond becomes the chiropractor at the local Veterans' Medical Center. He also sets out on other personal quests; finding out why his father faked memory lapses on a certain incident during his service, and what happened to his brother Frank who was allegedly killed during a Navy SEAL mission.

The best part of Eye Of The Redeemer by Richard I. Levine is undoubtedly its fully developed and explored characters. As the story progresses, Ray’s desire for personal salvation and truth makes this average chiropractor with a typical mid-life crisis not so average anymore. His growing relationship with the younger Leigh and being accidentally involved in a covert operation makes the plot more multi layered than it seems. The dialogue sounds believable. The prose is flawless and the story paced well. On the other hand, it took me a while to be fully comfortable with the narrative’s transition of perspective, time and location. As a whole, the story evokes slice of life, redemption, intrigue, history, politics and romance at the same time. Simply put, author Richard I. Levine successfully tied everything together, making Eye Of The Redeemer an engaging and satisfying read.

I loved this book and read it cover to cover in a day of lazy pleasure.
