$= Financial Equality by Mark Wm. Therrien is a very frank discussion, a practical antidote to the world’s poverty, one of those books that policy makers and people in power should read with diligence. Right from the introduction of the book, the author captures the attention of the reader by presenting a social injustice that eats into every society: “There is no excuse for spending tens of millions on a painting, or buying islands and private jets, while others freeze or starve or unknowingly consume poisonous water.” In this slim but powerful book, the author proposes a simplified tax code that can cater to the needs of people who are financially struggling, people who barely meet their basic needs, and those who bear the brunt of tax reforms that are intelligently crafted to favor the rich while placing more burdens on the poor.

Readers will learn about the Patriot Tax Code which can change the social conditions of millions of people with the implementation of things like Allotments, Concessions, Living Wages, Universal Healthcare, relief for underemployment and unemployment, and a strong Social Security system. Mark Wm. Therrien argues that some taxes are unnecessary, such as the Inheritance Tax. This is one of those rare books that take a critical look at the current tax system, uncover its flaws and show readers how it has become a tool of oppression against people who are already overburdened with poverty. Written in a very clear and compelling voice and in a style that is accessible, $= Financial Equality is a thought-provoking, revolutionary book that offers a practical guide to solving the social ills that threaten the lives of millions of people.
