Author Biography

My name is Benjamin Hylden and I am from Park River, North Dakota where I grew up on a dairy farm. I am 25 years old, but at the age of 16, I was in a near-death car accident, which brought me on an unforgettable journey of faith and recovery. Seven years later, I released my book, Finding Faith in the Field, to share the miracles, events, and experiences that changed my life and inspired me to write a book; and pursue a career in motivational speaking. Recently, I have also founded a Christian clothing brand called 'Purified.' With all I do in my life, I hope to impact many and glorify The One who saved my life.

In an inspiring, hopeful and truly wonderful new book steeped in the author's strongly held Christian beliefs, Finding Faith in the Field by author Benjamin Hylden, readers will find a story absolutely worthy of their time. The author recounts his experience as a young star athlete, and the terrible car accident he suffered on the way to his high school prom. He was thrown from the vehicle, badly injured, and found himself alone, freezing, in a desolate field. While many would have thought that their life was about to end, what Ben found was very different. He found the beginning of a new life, a new life through Christ.

I very much enjoyed Finding Faith in the Field. Ben's book is one that will grab readers from the first page and will keep them reading straight through to the end. I so appreciated that he was able to take the story of a difficult and life-changing experience and use it to change his own life, as well as to inspire, change and hopefully improve the lives of the others set in his path. Ben's experiences during and after his accident, his personal experiences with the Lord, and his ability to profess his experiences with a true heart for evangelism, and to provide hope to others have gifted the world with a wonderful message of redemption and hope. I highly recommend this book to any reader looking for a spiritually uplifting read. I also hope that author Benjamin Hylden will continue his work in spreading God's word, perhaps with another book in the future. I, for, one, would certainly be in line to read it!

My, my, my. Every once in a while a person, even a person like me who reads a whole lot, finds a book that touches their heart, that makes them think and cry and feel in a way that they haven't in a very long time. That's exactly how I felt when I read Benjamin Hylden's true life story, Finding Faith in the Field. Follow this young man's story after he gets into a car accident on his way to his high school prom, and is left alone and freezing in a field, preparing for death. Almost everything in Benjamin's life changes; once a sports star, he needs to almost start from scratch in terms of his abilities. But it's his experience in the field, the experience he has with God and with his own faith that truly changes everything for Ben forever.

I loved this book. Loved. It. Author Benjamin Hylden has done a fantastic job in writing this very personal and emotional story with humor, with grace, and always with an eye for teaching and passing on his love of God and Jesus Christ through his words. I was impressed with the author's abilities to start his life anew with fresh focus, fresh resolve, and a fresh appreciation for his relationship with his Christian faith. Any reader who loves a true story of redemption with a very, very strong Christian message should run, not walk, to buy and read Finding Faith in the Field. I am so happy that I read this book and you will be too!

Finding Faith in the Field by Benjamin Hylden is a wonderful story of how a young athlete found his faith when everything was about to slip away through his fingers. Young Ben had everything he could wish for; he had a healthy body, a healthy mind, a bright future in basketball and even a date for the upcoming prom. However, Fate had other plans for him. On a normal, but a fateful April day, Ben’s car skidded on the ice and he was tossed face first onto the icy ground. He lay there on the ground with a body that was never going to make him a basketball star anymore and a face that was almost unrecognizable. However, two angels came to help him and saved his life. Just when Ben thought his life was over, God sent him a new life that was just as exciting, but more fruitful and meaningful.

What an amazing story. Hylden’s story is inspiring and very encouraging. I literally read the whole book in two hours. It was engaging and wonderfully written. I was able to reflect on a lot of things and be thankful for the life I have. I cannot imagine how his mother felt when she recognized that the guy they were helping was her own son. This incident should have ruined his life and crushed his soul, but he found a new path, a better path to follow, and to live his life in a better way. He may not be a basketball star, but he sure does write like a champ. A great job!

Finding Faith in the Field is the autobiographical Christian story of Ben Hylden; a very simple, straightforward and inspirational story of the journey of a young man. Ben was a young, typically carefree high school student enjoying being a star player on the basketball team. Ben’s life changed completely in a moment. Ben got into the car on a cold icy day; he was late and so took a back road that would be quicker, but he never got to his destination. Ben was going too fast, misjudged the icy road, and suddenly the car flipped over and, because he hadn’t put on his seat belt, he was thrown out of the car. Ben landed in an icy field, face first, with a crushed body and in more pain than he could have ever imagined.

Ben quickly realized that his life would never be the same again and he might have to give up his dream of being a basketball star. The only hope he had was to work really hard at rehabilitation and maybe he would get his strength and skills back. Ben’s family remained at his side, giving him all of the love and encouragement they could, but as Ben lay in the hospital bed he quickly came to understand that God had saved him from death and God had a new plan for his life. Ben then takes us along on his long and hard journey with many ups and downs and successes and failures.

Ben Hylden is an amazing young man who took tragedy and made it into a positive by sharing his story and spreading the amazing things God can do in your life. I and everyone that Ben shared his story with have been blessed with inspiration, understanding and an appreciation for their life. I highly recommend this book for everyone. Finding Faith in the Field is a truly inspirational masterpiece. Ben tells his story from his heart and openly shares his emotions, thoughts and progress in a gripping manner.

The first word that comes to mind after reading Finding Faith in the Field by Benjamin Hylden was gratitude. Hylden was grateful to be alive after a horrific car accident. After the accident, Hylden realizes what is important in life and forms a closer relationship with God and his family. This is his story about his life after the accident, his road to recovery, and his spiritual journey.

I enjoyed reading Finding Faith in the Field. It is nice to be able to read a story that leaves you feeling at peace and wanting to get closer to God. I thought that Hylden was very fortunate to have been surrounded by people that loved him and were willing to help him. That is something you rarely see nowadays. He is very lucky to live in such a caring community. It was interesting how fast he recovered and what he went through during the recovery process. I am glad that he was able to play sports again even if only for a short time.

I really liked that he included pictures of his family and friends in the book. Especially the pictures of himself before and after the accident. Personally I think he looks great for having had so many broken facial bones. Everything happens for a reason, and I see that his accident was a blessing in disguise. Without the accident occurring, he may never have realized what is truly important in life. I can see this book being inspirational to people, especially if they too have been in a terrible accident.

"Ben Hylden's book Finding Faith in the Field is a paramount example of what can happen when tragedy strikes your life and all looks hopeless but a strong faith and perseverance turns disaster into a miracle. A weak faith is weakened by predicaments and catastrophes but a strong faith is strengthened by them."

Vicki K

"I absolutely loved Ben's way of expressing his love of The Lord and his love and compassion of his family, friends and all others so fortunate to have been a part of his life experience. The book made me want to just pull up a chair and have a nice visit with him and personally encourage him to follow the path that has already been such a blessing to him and all of us."
