Who wouldn’t want to be hugged by a penguin? I know I would! In Fluffy Hugs, Volume I by Richard Dodd, Fluffy is a magic penguin who has missions he completes to help anyone he can. Poor Fluffy’s parents were taken out of the zoo and returned back into the wild, leaving Fluffy all alone. But when Fluffy the penguin discovers his magical powers that allow him to escape the zoo enclosure and rescue both animals and humans in need with the power of his hug, he feels like he’s found his purpose in life and gets to meet so many people and make new friends. He helps both the injured as well as just the lonely, afraid, and sad. At just 34 pages, it’s easy to keep a child’s attention span for the whole story.
Richard Dodd’s Fluffy Hugs, Volume I is a very cute and unique children’s story. Fluffy Hugs would be the perfect book to read to little ones, either by a teacher in elementary school or at bedtime when a parent reads to a child. Children will like the “magic” part of Fluffy’s ability to escape his enclosure and parents will like the message it sends to help others in need. Father Christmas even makes an appearance in Fluffy Hugs, Volume I, surprising Fluffy to reward him for all the good deeds he’s done, but I won’t spoil the ending by telling you what Father Christmas gives to Fluffy. Children will relate to the adorable penguin character.
