Duane is stood up on a blind date and frustrated about it. So frustrated, in fact, that he cuts his hand, thus altering his love line forever, although he doesn't yet know this. This one event changes the course of his life forever. He returns to the restaurant to clean up his hand, but walks in on a robbery where there is a death involved. Now Duane has become a major player in this event. The insurance company doesn't want to pay any claims for the robbery and hound Duane. But that doesn't stop Duane from reconnecting with the girl who stood him up at the beginning of the story and started the whole change in his love line.

I loved the question posed in Foolish Heart Gunman: Can Love Survive an Assassin's Bullet? by Derek Vaughn. Basically, can someone alter their love line and change their luck when it comes to love? This story reminded me of It's a Wonderful Life and how a person can get a second chance to see exactly what their life would be like if one decision was made differently. I think that's a powerful question to consider so I appreciated that about this book. I think other readers will appreciate that this book really makes them think about love and how fragile life and love both are. Very nicely done and an interesting read.
