The discovery of an unusual locket and diary leads to uncovering the tragic story of the Williams’ family in the late 1800s in Forever In Vein by Jody R LaGreca. Beautiful young Becky Williams is entering society at her debutante ball when she falls under the spell of a dashing young man, Sir Ludwing Von Vanderblatt. Her immediate infatuation leads to her untimely death as her youth and innocence cause the vampire to go too far and drain her life essence, creating another undead creature. Unable to accept the loss of his daughter, Harrison Williams travels to the home of Von Vanderblatt, only to succumb to the horror that lives there. Becky’s mother, Georgia, is left to deal with the stately home and two other siblings, as well as her own guilty thoughts when that horror follows her from the farmlands of Pennsylvania to the city of Boston. Will she ever be free from evil or will her own actions condemn her to a life of fear?

Vampires are certainly bad form in Victorian era Boston and Forever In Vein by Jody R LaGreca details the social issues surrounding personal misconduct in a unique and exciting way. Life in Boston as well as in rural Pennsylvania is well depicted with plenty of details describing the macabre added in for the horror. This story is well written and deeply engrossing – in fact, almost impossible to put down – as the action draws you deeper and deeper into the world of the undead. With some interesting new views of vampire lore, Forever In Vein is the perfect story for a good scare and a surprising romance.
