Get Outta My Head by Collette A. Henry is a fun, and definitely heartfelt look at the struggles, joys, and triumphs of dealing with brain cancer. While Collette faced serious issues and something no one ever wants to go through, she approaches her book with a sense of calm humor that was quite endearing. The writing style was personal and friendly, which I loved. I've read a few memoirs about cancer patients, and one of the things that I can't stand is a woe-is-me outlook or one where the author is almost bragging...like "Look at me, look how strong I am, and see what I struggled through." It was quite refreshing to find such a personable and relatable narrator in Collette.

The book itself was short, but well crafted, including various types of media in the form of photographs as well as narrative and descriptive text. While there was a lot of technical talk, I never felt like I didn't understand anything and Collette presented all the information on a human level, which I found very endearing and very much appreciated. Those with cancer, or who have family with cancer of any form should read this book. It's great to see what a person can do when faced with insurmountable odds. Get Outta My Head is a fun, sweet, heartwarming look into the world of brain cancer. Reading this book may inspire some, comfort others, and will most definitely entertain all that read it.
