Ghost Trail by Brian Tyree starts with a search and rescue mission sent to find and secure a downed aircraft. Initially all goes as planned until the rescue team encounters a very large enemy force. About to be overrun, the team has no choice but to destroy the craft with its ultra-secret technology. All the team members perish, except one. Years pass and the survivor of the failed SAR mission has been reassigned and has settled into a job that has nothing to do with search and rescue. Everything should be quiet and routine, but suddenly he starts having flashbacks. Images in his head of combat missions start becoming clearer and clearer, missions where he supposedly played no part. Is he suffering PTSD, hallucinating, or just plain losing it?

Ghost One, the prototype stealth operative, has never failed. However, in China, a small unplanned detail has caught the attention of the Chinese Intelligence. Now they start to believe the rumors of a program they call The Phantom and plan to do something about it. As Ghost One begins to more fully understand what is happening to him, he knows he must find answers to who, what, how, and why. He asks for help from old and new friends, and then it all starts to come together...

Ghost Trail is a story filled with action, deceit, intrigue, and danger. Overall, I liked it a lot. The action starts on the first pages and continues throughout the book. All the main characters are effectively developed and the story line is good. There were a couple of small plot holes, but they did not overly detract from the quality of the story. As a lover of good action/adventure fiction, I found this to be an enjoyable read. Well done by this author.
