God’s Favorite, written and illustrated by Brittany Green, is a truly beautiful way for little Christian readers to learn what the Bible says about their belovedness. We follow a cheerful young girl through a colorful, playful world as she rejoices in the fact that she - like the reader and children throughout the world - is “God’s favorite.” The story is told in a gentle rhyme, and at the bottom of each page is the citation and corresponding verse (from the New International Version translation of the Bible) for each truth about identity. Throughout the story, kids will learn that God is their shield, that He designed them in His image, that they are called His children, and much more.
I am so in love with this sweet picture book that I want to get a copy of God's Favorite by Brittany Green to read to the adult college students I work with! In addition to children hearing an abundance of truths about God’s love for them, they will see many diverse skin tones, body types, and backgrounds represented, including a child in a wheelchair and kids in attire from around the world. When I was a child, I do not remember reading any Christian books where the protagonist was not depicted as white. I am so excited to see a young black girl delighting in God and the beauty He has given her and her friends. Children from all backgrounds will be able to connect with the fun and joy of this book, and I won’t judge you if you buy this book as an adult to personally remember God’s love for you.
