God's Given Gift is a work of fiction in the interpersonal drama, historical and spiritual sub-genres, and was penned by author Rodolfo Walss. Written for adult reading audiences, the work does contain some elements of graphic violence, explicit language and scenes of a sexual nature. We meet our central protagonist Fidelio, a character with an extraordinary gift for healing, and we follow him throughout many interesting exploits in his life. Set in part during Pancho Villa’s revolution, Fidelio finds and loses love, explores his own gifts and faces persecution for the skills which God has given him. What results is a sweeping saga of a fascinating spiritual life.

Author Rodolfo Walss has crafted a truly fascinating work that will please fans of literary fiction and historical drama immensely. I loved the fact that the book is set during a less-represented time in world history, and from a more unusual cultural perspective. This meant that there was much to learn from the rich historical atmosphere of the work as it was very deeply explored. This combined with the character commitment in Fidelio’s development made for a truly engrossing tale from start to finish. The emotional quality of the book was also highly engaging, as the narrative allows us to get close to the protagonist and feel his deep sorrow and high triumphs with excellent descriptive work. Overall, I would certainly recommend God’s Given Gift as a go-to read for fans of character-driven fiction with plenty of heart.
