Golden Dreg Quake: Baby Box Assassins is a young adult dystopian thriller written by D.K. Dailey. Seventeen-year-old MaeAri is a highly trained assassin who targets influential people on behalf of a covert government-backed organization called Baby Box Assassins Network (BBAN). After completing an assignment, MaeAri finds herself waking up in a hotel room with a short-term memory loss. As she tries to investigate further, a young man named Thad warns her about her adopted parents, telling her that they have orders to kill her. Barely surviving her scuffle with her parents, MaeAri finds herself on the run with a boy of her age named Declan Calhoun. As the rest of the world prepares for an oncoming mega-earthquake, MaeAri tries desperately to retrieve her memories with BBAN's assassins on her trail. Can she trust Declan?

If you love action-packed novels involving assassins and secret government organizations, Golden Dreg Quake: Baby Box Assassins is the book for you. Author D.K. Dailey doesn't waste much time getting into the scheme of things as you're put right into the middle of the action from the start. The plot is unpredictable, moving at a blistering pace with twists galore to make you turn the pages with eager anticipation of what's to come. The characters often feel like tools used to propel the narrative forward. MaeAri and Declan are two of the most fleshed-out characters, and their relationship dynamic serves as the bedrock of the story. Overall, I enjoyed Golden Dreg Quake: Baby Box Assassins. I will recommend it to readers who love action-oriented dystopian novels.
