Gonebee’s Odyssey by Thomas William Fillinger is a brilliantly contrived science fiction novel about the adventures of the marsupial Gonebee Overhill, a master maintenance technician that, by accident, saves the life of the monarch of the planet Fedoria. Thus begin their adventures as Gonebee tries to get Sovereign Hector Aldo Miguel Grande the Fourth back to his home planet. First they have to escape the limbo type, non-dimension they landed in. To do that, they must find two devices known as the Cosmic Cradle and the Cosmic Egg, with the help of a telepathic Avian named Crawford, and fellow marsupial from Glaxomina, Magenta Jangelo. The group has to overcome many obstacles before they can return to their home planets.

On return to their own dimension, Magenta departs, leaving Gonebee with the ever complaining, holier than thou Sovereign. Just as they think the worst is over, they are thrown from the frying pan into the fire when they meet interstellar crime boss Gandy Dureen, who makes Gonebee an offer he can’t refuse. Or can he?

Mr. Fillinger writes with a sense of humor that gives his colorfully off beat characters larger than life personas, such as ManZnam, the ancient wizard whose verbiage reminds me of Master Yoda from Star Wars. The book is fast paced with galactic chases and intrigue. Gonebee’s Odyssey is smart, quick witted, and full of action. A great mix of science, magic, adventure, and eccentric characters that are certain to make you laugh.
