Guilty Pleasures is a romance novella by Shannon Schoolcraft. Lexi, a hotel chambermaid, has a one-night stand with a handsome man named Chase Dean. She later discovers he is her boss, but the attraction is too great between them to be ignored. Chase seems to be quite serious about Lexi in the brief time he’s known her. Lexi, on the other hand, doubts his sincerity, although she has fallen in love with him. Lexi’s hidden past catches up when her ex-husband finally tracks her down. He wants Lexi back in his life and doesn’t want another man in hers. Chase suspects Lexi is hiding something from him and offers to help, but she fears to tell the man she loves about her painful past.
Guilty Pleasures is more than just the book’s title; it’s what Lexi feels since meeting Chase. She and Chase steam up the pages with their passionate encounters. Chase is a man who knows what he wants and always gets it. This novella by Shannon Schoolcraft moves along quickly, the romantic scenes are wonderful, but I felt that parts involving the ex-husband were not as developed. He was a minor part of the plot. The novella’s synopsis gave the indication that there would be more drama in this area. Anyway, this does not sway my opinion of the story as the main characters connected nicely. I think Shannon Schoolcraft writes well, and I hope she makes this novella into a full-length story with more in-depth details.
