Haircuts, Hens and Homicide by Stephanie Dagg is a murder mystery with a bit of a difference. Megan has traveled to France to sort out her Gran’s funeral and her estate. While she thought she might run into trouble with all the red tape and the government, she certainly didn’t expect chickens, dead bodies, and stuck-up French police. But that’s what she got so, together with Alphonse and Monsieur Moustache, his dog, Megan decides to try to solve the mystery. Many people cross her path and most of them just get in the way, especially the Mayor and cousins Nico and Romaine. Fighting their way around everyone, can Megan and Alphonse solve this mystery? When Alphonse is stabbed, Megan is the prime suspect so it's more important than ever that she get to the bottom of everything without falling foul (or fowl) of the law.

Haircuts, Hens and Homicide by Stephanie Dagg is a hilarious cozy mystery. Ms. Dagg has really got a way with words, a way that hooks you, not very gently either, and drags you into the thick of the story, immersing you in murder, mystery, and complete mayhem. This is part murder, part mystery, and part comedy, with a few edge-of-your-seat moments thrown in for good measure. Every one of the main characters has been beautifully developed, each playing their part to perfection, and the plot bubbles along at a steady pace, forever going forwards, never sidestepping into irrelevant details. This is one of those books that you will want to read right to the very end without stopping, a story that will wrap you up in the plot and only release you when it's all over. Cozy mystery fans will love this!
