Handpicked by Bridie Hall is a story of finding love when you least expect it. Gemma is a widow and she is okay with that. When her husband died and left the wine-making business to her, she knew her life was going to be a little different than it used to be. She has the business to take care of and her daughter to raise and she believes this is all she needs in life. But, all that changed when Jake came in her life and shook everything up. Jake is not a permanent fixture in her life. He is just here to spend some time as his injury heals. But there this something about him that makes her heart race and yearn for something that she thought is not in the cards for her anymore. Can she count on Jake to be the man she needs?
Handpicked by Bridie Hall was such a beautiful story. Jake and Gemma are two very different people, but somehow they made it work. They are believable characters, they have human quirks and needs that they aren’t really proud of. I loved how Gemma acted around her daughter and Tommy; I loved how she opened her heart to Jake and allowed herself to feel again. I also enjoyed how genuine Jake was with his feelings. He is a man who knows what he wants and he isn’t afraid of going after it. Handpicked is incredibly well-written. The narrative was beautiful; it was fast-paced with the right amount of action in it and allowed me to become invested in the story from the get-go. I enjoyed Bridie Hall’s writing style and I cannot wait for more stories from her!
