Author Biography

Dr. Brenda Lyon PhD, CNS, RN holds a bachelors, masters and PhD from Indiana University with majors in nursing. She was a professor at Indiana University School of Nursing for 39 years teaching in the masters and PhD programs. She is currently a Professor Emerita at the University.
Dr. Lyon had a private practice in stress and stress-related physical illness for over 34 years. She has conducted over 350 workshops for corporations, health professionals, and trade associations focused on helping people learn how to prevent and eliminate stress in their lives. She has published over 20 articles and contributed to 5 books focused on stress and stress management and is also the author of the national award winning Conquering Stress monograph and video series published by Glaxo – Smith Kline.
Dr. Lyon is a recipient of the Midwest Nursing Research Society’s Distinguished Contribution to the Science of Stress and Coping Award by the Stress and Coping Research Section. She received Indiana University’s prestigious W. George Pinnell Award for Outstanding Service nationally and in the field of stress and coping. She is a Fellow in both the American Academy of Nursing and in the multidisciplinary National Academies of Practice.
