Embarking happily on a new stage in their life together, Gil and Robin Turner visit Carson Creek in search of a home close to Gil’s new place of employment in Hell’s Shadows by Dean Klein. The most unlikely house calls to Robin, in spite of the protests of the realtor and, unable to change his wife’s mind, Gil sets out to create the house of their dreams. Cosmetic changes, though, can’t hide the evil that lurks inside this long abandoned property, once home to the town’s parson who was lynched on site for allegedly kidnapping all 23 of Carson Creek’s children in 1830. The horror has reawakened and as Gil and Robin try to understand what is happening in their home, even more tragedy occurs. For every answer the couple thinks they find with the help of their friend and local police detective Nick Colquist, a new and more troubling question arises. Unearthly events continue to plague the property, pushing the limits of the occupants’ sanity, not to mention safety as even the efforts of the best of law enforcement are in vain. Will they ever find the solution to making this house a home or will the hold of evil prove to be stronger than Gil and Robin’s love for one another? Find out in Hell's Shadows by Dean Klein.
Without a doubt, this is the most terrifying story I have ever read! More than just a ‘haunted house’, the property known as Parsons Knoll is the site of horrific death and lingering spiritual despair involving forces that have not been encountered in many thousands of years. Hell’s Shadows is the perfect title because only hell itself can be the source of the mysterious happenings that keep you turning the pages, anxious to see what more can be discovered. Thoroughly riveting, turning out the lights is not an option as you experience this waking nightmare with characters that are incredibly real as they fight for their lives against a foe that challenges everyone’s grip on reality.
