A body plummets from a New York City skyscraper, killing two people and leaving a miniature alpaca homeless. The results of this gruesome event reach deep into the underworld of Chicago and stir up deadly supernatural forces in the thrilling paranormal novel, Hoofin' It (A Magical Romantic Comedy With A Body Count) by RJ Blain. After rescuing a family from a burning car, Chicago Police Officer Shane Gibson lost one of his eyes. Taking a leave of absence to ponder his future career options, Shane makes a trip to New York City. Due to extraordinary circumstances, he suddenly finds himself the proud owner of an angry alpaca. Not able to keep the spitting animal in his hotel room, Shane packs up his belongings and heads to his family home in Nebraska. However, once Shane reaches his parents' ranch, things heat up when someone shoots him and steals his new pet. Why would someone attempt murder over an animal? Why is a miniature alpaca so valuable?

Hoofin' It (A Magical Romantic Comedy With A Body Count) by RJ Blain is a fun and exciting paranormal novel filled with adventure and magical mayhem. Night beings and assorted humanoids fit into the story line quite naturally as if they are a normal part of everyday life. The shifting which is contained in the story is remarkably authentic and unassuming. The characters are charming and engaging, and I absolutely loved those from the Chicago underworld. They are irresistible with their charismatic and captivating personalities and fascinating histories. This is a surprisingly grounded paranormal story, and it is an enjoyable way to spend an evening. The plot is intriguing and amusing; it will charm those who love fiction stories with a preternatural twist. I believe this book has the potential for a best seller with its comedic touch and spellbinding story line, and I hope it will be followed by an equally fantastic sequel.
