How Angels Die: A Confession by Guy Blews is an engrossing tale of love that presents some important questions in this day and age. How Angels Die starts with an introduction to Guy Blews where we learn that he is a musician and a British immigrant to California. The story then continues in Guy’s own words where he describes how his wife, Jemma, committed suicide with his knowledge, more specifically, underwent euthanasia due to a terminal illness. Guy describes their meeting 7 years prior to her death and how their relationship progressed. A few months before meeting Guy, Jemma was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis or MS, a debilitating disease that causes a wide range of symptoms and can severely impair the ability to live life independently. The disease worsened rapidly within a few years and left her with impaired mobility among other things. This is their story of love, hardship, and the fundamental right to make choices for ourselves.

How Angels Die: A Confession by Guy Blews is a gripping book that brings out in the open some basic questions about the right to choose to die. I think it is extremely important to talk about euthanasia and the fact that most countries in the world still don’t have a law that supports it. I completely agreed with all of Guy and Jemma’s views and assertions on the matter and, hopefully, a book like this will promote further discussion on this subject. This is a great book that really makes one think and one that I feel should be taken seriously to protect the rights of people all over the world, including the right to choose when and how to die.
