How the Grinch Stole My Heart by Annabelle Costa is a quirky Christmas tale. Noelle is a hard-working single mom and she really doesn’t like her neighbor – even though she hasn’t met the old man. He doesn’t like her son and leaves notes on her door about him. He made the complex doorman remove the Christmas tree, he shut the door in the faces of some young Christmas carolers and he seems to be an all-round, grumpy, miserable grinch. He doesn’t like Christmas so why should anyone else? When he meets a woman in a diner and arranges a date for Saturday night, nobody could see what was coming. His date is Noelle but neither of them realizes it, and she is about to find out that he isn’t the old man she thinks he is.
How the Grinch Stole My Heart by Annabelle Costa is a wonderful quick read that really lifts the spirits. This is a unique story, a different take on the boy-meets-girl premise that will melt your heart and make you scream in frustration at the same time. There is humor wound through the story that takes the sting from it; it’s a very thought-provoking story, one that should teach us first impressions aren’t always right. You can't tell what a person has been through in their life just from one look and you should never judge them without getting to know them. All the way through this action-packed tale, you will be rooting for both the main protagonists and, on more than one occasion, you’ll be wanting to bang their heads together – hard! Great story, I loved it and I think it’s the perfect getaway read when you want to leave the real world behind for a couple of hours.
