Hush Now by L.A. Green is a unique and original story that enthralled my senses on many different levels. From start to finish I was engulfed in the plot theme and storyline that took me away, deep into a past era. In short, this is a story about the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner, Rebecca Montgomery, who falls in love with Ruth, one of the female plantation slaves. I think that one of the best aspects of this book is the character description. Rebecca, Ruth, Grafton, Uncle Chet, Jonathan are all presented with deep POV that will have you walking alongside them throughout the story. The underground-railroad, the luscious landscapes, the deep forbidden romance all captivated me and left me wondering what was going to happen next.

I also enjoyed how author L.A. Green presents the story with dynamic dialogue and satire befitting the era in which the story takes place, like that of a great western being told for the first time. There’s humor, wonder, romance, history all mixed together to form an astounding read that I thoroughly enjoyed. No spoilers, but I felt the ending was a little too easy for my own personal taste. With that said, the story is extremely well written in a fast flowing manner that I enjoyed for nights on end. I hope there is a second installment of Hush Now, but until then I shall be anxiously waiting for more from author L.A. Green.
