Icing, a new book by author Debra Sue Brice, is a wonderfully original foray into the popular genre of Christian romance. Follow the story of lead character Denie Shaw, a young woman who appears to be on the brink of fulfilling her dreams. She's garnered the attention of Tom Billingsly, the right wing for the Lake Erie Monsters, and a celebrity in her world. When, to her shock, he expresses a great deal of interest in her, and a relationship ensues, Denie isn't quite sure if she should trust that it's for real. She's faced some heartbreak in the past, and she's determined not to go down that path again. Will her past hurts affect her future happiness? Read Icing and find out.

I found Icing to be an entertaining, well-written story that was very engaging, had a lovely amount of romance without being explicit, and with a story line that was effective and intriguing at the same time. Readers who enjoy Christian fiction will definitely enjoy this book and should pick it up as soon as they possibly can! Author Debra Sue Brice is a talented and gifted voice in the genre of Christian fiction, and I would think it unlikely that she will remain unknown for long. I definitely plan to read more from her, including her first book, and will keep my eye out for more releases from her in the future. In short, I am happy to give this book a five star rating, and suggest that anyone looking for a lovely romantic read give it a chance!

Wow! What a fun, fun read I just finished! Icing, the new book by author Debra Sue Brice, will definitely keep readers who love a great romance turning the pages from the very first words all the way through the very last page! Follow the story of Denie Shaw, a woman who’s dreams are seemingly realized when she meets the handsome Tom Billingsly, the star hockey player who plays right wing for the Lake Erie Monsters. Even though she’s not certain that it’s a great idea, before she knows it, they are in a relationship and on the surface everything seems perfect. But will Denie be able let go of her past heartaches in order to follow her instincts? Will her story end differently this time?

I so, so enjoyed Icing. Author Debra Sue Brice did a fantastic job in creating characters, especially Denie, that her readers will be able to relate to, will connect with, and will truly care about. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is. The story is romantic, sweet and heartwarming all at the same time, and has a very positive Christian message. Any reader who loves romance or just a great, sweet story should absolutely read this book. I am pleased to highly recommend Icing, and look forward to reading more from the very talented author, Debra Sue Brice, as soon as I possibly can. If her other work is anything like Icing, it will absolutely be worth the read!

Icing by Debra Sue Brice is a Christian romance. Denie Shaw is perfectly content being single and running her hockey themed cupcake shop. When her hockey star crush, Tom Billingsly, shows an interest in her, she begins to rethink being single. Denie has to decide if she is ready for a romance with her dream guy.

I thought Icing was a good story. I liked that Brice made Denie into such a strong female character. Denie knew what she wanted and what she did not want in a relationship. At times Denie was a bit annoying with her indecisive thoughts on Tom and his feelings towards her. It made me wonder if I sounded like this as a teenager. Tom seemed like the perfect guy. He wanted to be with Denie, even though he knew she would not sleep with him. I really liked Denie’s group of friends. I wish I had a group of girlfriends that I could count on like that. I think the best thing about this book was all the cupcake flavors. I blame Brice for making me crave cupcakes now. The only thing that could make this book a little better is if Brice included actual cupcake recipes in it. I like that this is a Christian book but that Brice does not overdo the religious element.

If you like cupcakes or Christian romance books, then you should read this book. Be warned that you may experience strong cupcake cravings after reading this book. I look forward to more of Brice’s work in the future.

Icing is a contemporary Christian romance novel written by Debra Sue Brice. Denie had a pretty good life going for her. At the urging of her twin sister, she had fulfilled a dream of owning a cupcake shop and had retired from her job as a schoolteacher. Baking cupcakes and dreaming up an ever-expanding selection of flavors and designs for her creations made her and her customers smile. She had a few close friends, who were really more like sisters, and her twin, Leanne, was a major part of her life. They all loved going to hockey games and were faithful followers of the Cleveland Monsters, an American Hockey League team. Each game was eagerly looked forward to, both for the popcorn, hot dogs and excitement, and for the glimpses of Tom, the hunky number 29. Denie had just about given up on dating and relationships. She was committed to staying a virgin until she was married, and most guys were not willing to wait. The last disappointment had really hurt her so admiring Tom from afar was a thrill, but a safe one that would never lead to another heartbreak.

Debra Sue Brice's contemporary Christian romance, Icing, is both inspiring and entertaining. This well written hockey-centric romance features strong and independent women who enjoy sports, outdoor activities, and nights on the town, and they aren't swooning over their latest crushes -- at least most of the time. Denie's culinary adventures add a marvelous dimension to the story, and I found myself considering just how good a chocolate-frosted peanut butter and bacon cupcake could be. As Icing is a Christian romance, I knew it would be a sweet one, but the growing relationship between Tom and Denie is, while squeaky clean, anything but insipid and tame. Brice's characters feel their burgeoning romance even as Denie honors her religious convictions. Icing is highly recommended for fans of sports and Christian romance.
