Author Biography

Anto Ljoljic lives in California and is the proud son of two immigrants of Croatian heritage. After a winding path through corporate America, he has decided to follow his newly-discovered talent for writing and surrender to wherever the great current may take him. Essentially, he is a struggling writer pursuing his dream. His days tend to be filled with writing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, yoga, meditation, travel, reading, and his favorite activity of all time––sitting at a coffee shop and discussing matters of the heart with others who are seeking the Light.

If We Have No Peace by Anto Ljoljic is a thrilling memoir of the author’s journey to the edge of insanity and his ultimate conquest of inner freedom. Just at the beginning, the reader is already warned that this might not be their run-of-the-mill memoir, but a story of the evolution of the protagonist’s psyche. “Let us now discuss, with unrestrained honesty, the evolution of my corrupted mind. The number of times I’ve been brought to desperation, to a curled-up ball of tears begging for it to be over, leaves me no other choice but to consider the possibility of my being insane.” Now follow the narrator as he takes the reader through different stories, beautifully and vividly captured, stories of depression, addiction, utter loneliness, love and a lot more.

This is an unalloyed confession of someone who has been through a lot, a story of the most shameful moments in the protagonist’s life, but it is also a story of his humanity. The writing is excellent and it is filled with emotional insights and the wisdom that only comes from having hit rock bottom or having been through the most gruesome experiences. As the reader reads through Anto Ljoljic’s book, they understand that there is a powerful process of awakening taking place with the protagonist’s coming to terms with his troubles. If We Have No Peace is a ruthlessly honest memoir, a story that will resonate powerfully in many hearts. In this memoir, the author presents the psychology of most of us who are so miserably wooed by our addictions that we find it hard to steer clear of them. It is a story that entertains, educates, and creates a powerful consciousness on the journey towards inner freedom. A very satisfying read.

This book is engrossing and all consuming. Once I started reading I couldn't stop and finished the book in a day. Having grown up in the Bay Area as a first generation immigrant child during the same time as the author, the familiarity of certain places and events in the book hit home with me. However, I was never tempted by the many things that Anto fell victim to but my brother was and still continues to struggle with addiction and living like an adult. Anto's experiences are raw and un-censored. You feel everything in this book and in the end you gain some understanding in how society is failing so many people. Parents thinking they are doing their best to raise intelligent, conscientious, and respectful people and then come to find they are miserably failing when there child is arrested once again for drug use, theft, or other unmentionables. At the end of this book there are mixed feelings. I felt a deep sadness for Anto and his family... I bawled and my youngest daughter asked, "Mom, did someone die?" At the same time, I felt relief that Anto had escaped his demons and faced them head on. Anto's family did what they thought to be right in raising their son. Their only mistake was not seeking help for him when he was younger. I think that therapy would have been very beneficial for all of them. At the end of the day, things happen, choices are made, and people are unnecessarily hurt in the process. In my eyes, by writing "this apology", this memoir, Anto is on the road to redemption and will hopefully guide others to never ever go down the painful path that he did. Don't pass this book up... very thought-provoking and entertaining read!

This book is a gut wrenching story of one man's personal growth. It is not for the faint of heart. It is written counter to typical self-help fashion where 10% is sad and 90% is how to be happy. Anto doesn't lay out some _step program to follow. He simply and brutally details the darkest points in his life and his narrow escape back to sanity.

'And only an open heart is capable of absorbing the truth that the universe is so patiently trying to share.' One of many highlights from my experience in reading Anto's story. I recommend his book to anyone seeking to find inner peace or helping others to do so.

Amazing and powerful read, I couldn't put it down. I felt like I was on a journey with Anto, who is completely candid about the darkness and light in his life. This book reminds me that we are not alone in our struggles and provides hope in an all too chaotic time.

Raw and real. Def a dark journey but a great reminder that we all have our "stuff" to work through. Hope you have found your peace Anto.
