If You Were Me and Lived In... Italy: A Child's Introduction to Cultures Around the World by Carole P. Roman is a fascinating book that will educate children about Italy, its culture, essence, sights, and sounds. Italy was the home of the Roman Empire during ancient times and controlled most of the world, with the Roman Empire stretching over almost forty-eight modern countries. The book throws light on the history of Italy and its influence on Western civilization. It is so much fun to learn the names of various kinds of foods and say words in Italian, and this book guides young readers to do just that! The book helps children travel to Italy and discover the place while sitting at home. Isn’t that wonderful?

I love these types of books that tell readers about foreign lands and places of interest there, their culture, society, and food. They encourage children to dream about new places and travel to new lands. The descriptions are detailed and informative, making it easy for young readers to comprehend and enjoy the book. The illustrations are charming and they capture the author’s thoughts and concepts beautifully. It is a good book for school libraries because of the educational content, and the pronunciation guide at the end of the book is helpful in understanding how the words are actually pronounced. It is an excellent tool for learning for children of all ages, and makes geography look so easy and interesting! I want to pack my bags and travel to Italy. What about you?
