I'm Not Broken by Amy Outland is an emotional story about one woman's struggle through a life changing event. When Samantha wakes up in the hospital, she learns she was in a car accident. The damage to her spinal cord is permanent and she will never walk again. Her new life is full of physical challenges. But even worse are the emotional scars she carries, as her reality becomes blurred from broken memories of the accident. Brian Haines is the physical therapist whose job it is to help Sam regain her independence. He's committed to helping Sam find her sense of self and works tirelessly with Sam on this task. It is soon clear that their relationship is quickly becoming more personal than professional, and Sam is very interested in Brian's attention. But she has a nagging sense that she has forgotten something important, a memory she can't quite pull to the surface just yet. Her journey is a long one, and full of emotional ups and downs, but with Brian's help Sam is committed to reclaim a piece of herself that she once knew.

I'm Not Broken is such a sad tale about one woman's loss and all of the heartache she goes through to overcome that obstacle and find herself again. Amy Outland does a nice job of making Sam well rounded and giving her a full array of emotions that readers will relate to. Sam is a very authentic character and readers will suffer as Sam suffers, and cry as Sam struggles to do the best she can. I loved Sam's character and her internal thoughts/descriptions. Very well written!
