What a pleasant surprise that there were actually three stories in this book! I was not expecting that when I first picked it up. Just 59 pages long, I would encourage author Tim Kizer to add several more short stories and make it a larger book.

"Intoxication" was in fact an intoxicating tale of a woman who believed she was being poisoned but others thought she was being paranoid. There were plenty of twists and turns in the plot to keep me wondering, was she paranoid or did someone really have it out for her? I'm not going to spoil it for you -- you'll have to read it to find out.

"The Hitchhiker" was equally as gripping, a story of murder and deception. As an added bonus, the author included his "under 1,00 word story" titled "The Bike."

I really enjoyed Tim Kizer's style of writing as it evoked emotion, allowed the reader to guess the outcome and then mixed things up to make the reader guess again. I could almost imagine "Intoxication" being made into a 30-minute episode of Twilight Zone or a similar mystery series. As I read the words on the paper, I could envision the characters in my head. A good writer is able to allow the reader to see the scene playing out in imaginary video in addition to reading the words on the page and author Kizer was able to do just that. What a great short read!
