Warning: This book contains extreme violence and is not for the faint of heart.

Iron Stan: Psycho Cop by Gary Turcotte is the story of Stan. He was raised by his uncle in the remote foothills of a mountain range. Uncle Hector hated everyone. When he returned from the Korea War he was not right. He took Stan in and raised him to kill or be killed.

The plot describes how the two killed a Game Warden. The gruesome murder will sicken the strongest stomach. When Hector started spiting up blood he knew his time on earth was drawing to a close. He encouraged Stan to join the Army because they would pay him to kill. Then he asked Stan to kill him but it would not be easy because it was a challenge...kill or be killed.

Stan survived and joined the army. In Vietnam he never hesitated to kill. His survival skills kept him alive. When he left the service he became a cop. PSYCHO COP. He was judge, jury and executioner. He never hesitated to kill and received pleasure from it. The police began to suspect Stan was involved in the murders.

This book is gruesome, yet I could not stop reading. Gary Turcotte is a master at characterization. This is one character I did not want to come to life but on the pages seemed real. Hector obviously taught Stan to be a psycho path. He created a person that had no qualms about taking a life, any life. Stan was a brilliant person...what a waste. The story line will bother many yet it is well written. This book is not for the young. I would not recommend it for high school or young adults.
