Izadi is book three in the Director series by Zach Fortier, a compelling crime fiction that features kidnapping, human trafficking, and a gritty investigation. The plot begins with a backstory, letting readers know that The Director has finally disappeared and Camp Cachibaché is now a failed project … or is it? In this mesmerizing tale, the reader follows Nick Hudson, a well imagined character as he races to solve a kidnapping case. Follow him and his team into a world of human trafficking with its dangers, but can he find Svetlana?

This is an interesting story featuring a group of Ukrainian mercenaries known as the Asgarda. This time, it’s about rescuing the sister of their interpreter. The story is beautifully told and the reader will enjoy crisp prose from the start of the story till the very last page. I enjoyed the way the author explores relationships between the characters and how each character demonstrates their humanity. There is a cat-and-mouse game that happens between two powerful characters, creating a strong sense of suspense which builds interest in readers and keeps them longing to know what happens in the end.

The narrative is fast-paced and it features exciting elements of the setting. The author demonstrates a great understanding and mastery of the police world and creates characters that readers will enjoy like Nick Hudson, Katerina “aka” Special K, and Bexx. While the prose captures the action with unusual vividness, the well-crafted dialogues are delightful in themselves and they provide great avenues for understanding plot and character. Izadi will keep you awake for the whole night, a fast and riveting read.
