Just Try It, Georgie! is an animal story for children by Christy Sturtz. Georgie the Giraffe is a picky eater. He does not want to eat the green leaves, grass, or twigs that his mother and other giraffes are known to eat. Not even the juicy fruits. So he ventures out one morning to find something different to nibble on. Georgie meets Arnie the Aardvark, who stayed up all night eating ants and is now ready for bed. Arnie suggests he eats ants, but Georgie refuses. He meets Chelsie the Cheetah and some animal friends who suggest he sample their food, but the giraffe is hesitant. Ellie the Elephant is nibbling on her food and encourages Georgie, who is hungry, to try it. Will he?

This is a fun, educational storybook for young children. Georgie the Giraffe is so reluctant to try new foods and children have similar problems too. It is not easy getting them to eat the foods and Georgie the Giraffe’s mother has this problem. Christy Sturtz cleverly addresses this issue in a nice way in Just Try It, Georgie! The illustrations are wonderfully sketched with bright colours. Each one shows Georgie with a friend. There is a section at the back called Fun Facts About the African Wildlife in this Book. It provides information on giraffes and the animal friends in the story, as well as foods they eat. It is a good learning tool for teachers and parents to use when teaching small kids about animals.
