Rachel Knight is a Special Trials Prosecutor for the city of Los Angeles and a very good one to be exact. Her dear friend, Bailey Keller, is a detective. They tend to work off of each other when a case is tough and they need a new set of eyes. Though they are both highly intelligent women, this new case will have them at their wit's end before it is solved. The teenage daughter of a highly successful movie producer is kidnapped; the ransom of $1 million has been dropped. But of course it cannot be so easy. Things go from shady to blindingly dark in a head spinning whirlwind of events, sucking in other famous names and extracting secrets from the past that were never meant to be let out.
I was very fortunate to have this as an audio book. There were moments that my hands gripped the steering wheel, fingers tense with anticipation. My heart skipped a beat more than once when the scene turned dangerously scary. I looked like a fool to other commuters as I laughed out loud at humorous comments by the characters. My commute is 45 minutes to an hour, each way..and I was glad. This is one of those books that you will not want to put down for any reason! With the change in seasons coming and the opportunity to relax nearing, I would highly recommend Marcia Clark's Killer Ambition (A Rachel Knight Novel) by whatever mode of reading you prefer.
