Kirtan: The Art and Ecstasy of Chanting by Divya Prabha is a remarkably educational guide to the history and use of Kirtan. I was quite impressed with the quality of information found in this book. Having experienced the high sacred energy of chanting, I was interested in what the author had to say. I appreciated that the author stressed the need for pronunciation; chanting is vibrational energy, therefore if the words are not correctly pronounced, the vibrations change, and the result is different. The pronunciation key in the back of the book can be very beneficial to those that are just getting started, and the author has even included a helpful link for those who are serious about learning Sanskrit. With stories of the Lords and Goddesses, along with their associations, this book is an excellent source of information for anyone, from the beginner to the advanced chanter and Yoga practitioners.
